HEATHEN DEITY Track To Be Used In Next DESIGN CONFEDERACY Film Release
November 26, 2006Design Confederacy, makers of the cult black metal comedy "Legalize Murder", have chosen "Cornu (The Sign of the Horns)" from veteran U.K. black metallers HEATHEN DEITY's 2002 album "Walpergisnacht" as one of the songs to be included on their next production, "Serving Time in the Middle of Nowhere". According to producer/director Joe Salerno, the new film will not be a comedy, but will tell the story of an ex-con whose quest for easy money on his release from prison leads to his involvement with some small-time drug dealers and has tragic consequences.
HEATHEN DEITY's founding member and vocalist Dagon had this to say about the cooperation between HEATHEN and the filmmakers: "Joe heard that particular track, which happened to be an acoustic one, and used it as the background theme for their 'Legalize Murder' MySpace page. We were especially pleased he had chosen that song, since the inclusion of acoustic tracks on our albums is something of a HEATHEN trademark, a tribute to our English Medieval heritage, if you like. So it was doubly gratifying when he asked if he could use it for the new film. We would have been insane to say anything except 'Yes!' to these guys. 'Legalize Murder' has become legendary, and is required viewing for both black metal musicians and fans alike."
HEATHEN DEITY is currently working on its next album and plans to tour after its release, slated for early-to-mid-2007. The band has recently been joined on guitar and backing vocals by The Leviathan, whose MCD "The Uncreation" by his own band WRITTEN IN TORMENT has recently been released on Canadian label None More Black Records. Dagon (once a former vocalist with HECATE ENTHRONED) has also written the lyrics and will be going into the studio to lay down backing vocals for an upcoming WRITTEN IN TORMENT release.
